MEDVEDJA – THANK-YOU NOTE HANDED TO THE PAINTER WHO HAD DECIPHERED THE SMILE OF MONA LISA

Medvedja –  Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, handed a thank-you note to a well-known Serbian writer and painter Predrag Lukovic Baja, who had proved with the painting "Portrait of a Secret" that the portrait of the famous Mona Lisa was actually a self-portrait painted by Leonardo da Vinci.

Mr. Lukovic was born in the village of Gajtan in the municipality of Medvedja. He works and lives in Belgrade, while he gained worldwide fame in 1982 when he decoded Da Vinci’s masterpiece with his own painting, which was followed by a series of exhibitions in both domestic and foreign galleries.

Mayor Arsic handed to the guest from Belgrade a thank-you note for successful cooperation and commitment to his homeland, as well as for his contribution to the development of culture in the municipality of Medvedja.

"It is a special honor for our Medvedja to be represented by a great artist who acquired fame  through hard work and exceptional talent for painting. The proof of that is that you were decorated with the silver medal for your paintings, which the President of the Republic of Serbia presented to you on the National Day,” Mayor Arsic said.

While talking with Mayor Arsic, Bajo Lukovic promised that he would organize an exhibition at the Cultural Center in Medvedja, where his paintings would be exhibited, as well as those of his daughter Natasa Lukovic, who is a graduate painter.
