Medvedja – Under the decision on financing and co-financing projects in the field of sports this year, financial resources were allocated to sports clubs in the area of the municipality of Medvedja.

Based on the Rulebook on the Criteria and Procedure for the Allocation of Funds for Financing Sports Associations, and the issued public call for financing projects in the field of sports in 2018, funds were granted to the following sports associations: Football Club "Jablanica", Basketball Club "Jablanica," Karate Club "Jablanica," Aikido Club "Jablanica," Chess Club "Gornja Jablanica," Sports Association "Free Style" and the Sports Association of the municipality of Medvedja.

Contracts on the implementation of the program between the municipality and the above-mentioned sports associations were signed at the office of Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja.

"Compared to last year, when six million dinars were set aside for sports, funds in the amount of 10 million dinars were allocated this year, which is almost two times more. Our desire, as a local self-government, is to keep young people and make them more involved in all spheres of cultural and sports life, "Mayor Arsic said.

According to him, 90 per cent of children in those clubs were from the municipality, and he was glad that the emphasis was placed on the young. 

“If we fail to get them interested in sports, either through school activities or sports associations, they will drop healthy habits and it will be more difficult for us to get them off the streets and keep them away from other bad things, "Mayor Arsic said.

Agreed at the joint meeting was also the socializing with sports club members once a month, at which all the problems would be discussed and the clubs’ reports on the previous period analyzed.
