MAYOR ARSIC PRESENTED THE”MILICA VELICKOVIC” FUND AWARDS TO THE BEST STUDENTS

Мedvedja – Jelena Markovic and Amelija Pavic, the best graduate students of elementary school "Gornja Jablanica" and secondary technical school "Nikola Tesla" in Medvedja, were given the "Milica Velickovic" fund awards.

Every year on Vidovdan (a popular Serbian holiday), the "Milica Velickovic" fund rewards the best students from primary and secondary school in Medvedja. The Fund was established by the decision of the Municipal Assembly of Medvedja and in memory of the painter Milica Velickovic, "Zivojin Pavlovic, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Fund, said. 

"The money comes to the fund from different sides, from many donors, from the municipality of Medvedja, as well as from the sales of the pictures painted by Kosara Velickovic. The entire leadership of the municipality of Medvedja attended the award-giving ceremony, which shows the great respect and trust to everything that the fund represents, "Mr. Pavlovic said.

"There are few municipalities in Serbia that foster the progress and knowledge of young people in this manner," Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, said.  

Congratulating the winners of the award, he said that that was a prestigious award and that the parents of those children should be proud, adding that the municipality would continue to cherish the fond. 

The pictures “Proudly for Milica" are exhibited in the hall of the Cultural Center in Medvedja, and the citizens will be able to see them until Monday, July 2.
