Меdvedja – On the occasion of the Municipality of Medvedja Day, Zoran Stankovic, President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja,  inaugurated the fountain in the town square. Its construction was financed by the Coordination Body’s funds amounting to 7.2 million dinars.

Mr. Stankovic thanked the hosts for their hospitality and wished them a lot of prosperity. Welcoming the participants in the event, he said that the Coordination Body would try, as it had done until then, to solve the crucial problems faced by the local population.

Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, pointed out that the local self-government had an excellent cooperation with the Coordination Body. According to him, thanks to the joint forces, a lot was done over the past year. Reconstruction of the town square, including the construction of the fountain, improving the curbs and sidewalks by means of trees, fixing up the viewing point and the access road to the main tank, were just some of the projects that were completed.

"Tidying up this beautiful town so that it could become even more beautiful, bringing investors and creating new jobs are the priority tasks for us," Mayor Arsic said.

Traditionally, letters of thanks and awards were given to the deserving citizens, institutions, athletes, students and workers on the municipality day. A rich cultural – artistic program and a cocktail were organized for the visitors at the community center.

The municipality of Medvedja chose May 20 as the municipality day because it is the date of the final liberation of our then country in World War II.
