The Youth Umbrella Organization of Serbia (YUOS) and the Institute for Media and Diversity for the Western Balkans invite all interested youth activists and youth workers to apply for the participation in the training that deals with one of the great challenges of the Internet and online communication – hate speech.
The Youth Umbrella Organization of Serbia (YUOS) and the Institute for Media and Diversity for the Western Balkans invite all interested youth activists and youth workers to apply for the participation in the training that deals with one of the great challenges of the Internet and online communication – hate speech.
The three-day training will be held in Belgrade from July 26 to 28, 2017. The training is designed as a training course for youth educators, and participants will be trained how to effectively transfer knowledge to other young people. The said training is part of the No Hate Speech Campaign of the Council of Europe, which is funded by the European Youth Foundation.
Requirements of the competition: The call is open to 16 activists and youth workers aged from 18 to 30, who want to better understand hate speech and continue to use the acquired knowledge in their work. Participants are expected to have prior knowledge in youth work and/or social activism. One of the criteria for the selection of participants will be their presence on the social networks.
Upon completion of the training course, all participants will be required to undertake an activity, depending on their personal interests: produce a counter narrative of the hate speech that they encountered, write a blog about the training or some of the topics covered in the training or organize a workshop on hate speech in their local environments. Participants will have mentoring support in the implementation of these activities.

Participation in the training is free, while all expenses related to transportation, accommodation and food during the training will be covered by the organizers.
