Residents of Grdelica, as well as those of the surrounding area, are still without water, while they get drinking water from truck water-tanks.
The mayor of Leskovac, Mr. Cvetanovic, said that the local self-government had undertaken activities for providing aid to vulnerable persons in the flooded areas.
Six trucks loaded with food, water and other supplies left from Leskovac to Belgrade and further to the flooded parts of Serbia. In just a few hours, Leskovac companies and individuals donated 80 tons of drinking water, food for adults and children, toiletries, children’s cosmetics etc, the value of which is over 15 million dinars. The goods from the “Nevena” factory, which is also one of the major donors, are transported to the distribution center in Belgrade, from where they are subsequently distributed to the crisis areas.
The Red Cross office in Leskovac informed members of the Center for Emergency Situations that the response of citizens to help in second-hand goods and clothing was great and that its storage capacities were full.
