By the end of the year, 1,000 inhabitants of the Jablanica district will have a chance to attend for free a course in the use of computers and the Internet. Priority to attend the course will be given to persons with special needs, farmers and inhabitants of rural areas, Roma and those who have been unemployed for a long period of time.

READ MOREIt was unanimously agreed at the yesterday’s session of the Presidency of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja that out of 229,278,000.00 dinars, which is the sum that may be transferred from the republican budget this year, the municipality of Bujanovac should get 42 per cent (96,296,760.00 dinars), Presevo 40.5 per cent (92,857,590.00 dinars) and Medvedja 17.5 per cent of it (40,123,650.00 dinars).

BUJANOVAC – A session of the Presidency of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja is going to take place at the Bujanovac municipal building at 3 pm on Monday, February 1, 2010. Topics to be discussed at the session include a report on the Coordination Body’s work in 2009 and distribution of the funds from the 2010 Coordination Body’s budget to the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. The session will be chaired by Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body. This is the fifth session of the Presidency of the Coordination Body since reconstruction of the Coordination Body in March 2009.
READ MOREAs part of a six-month project “Kosovo is on the Other Side – How to Proceed After the Conflict”, the Center for Democracy and Development of South Serbia and the “JUGpress” regional information agency organized in Bujanovac the fourth in a row meeting. The main topic discussed at the meeting was the importance of participation of ethnic minorities in the institutions and the exercising of their rights in the region. Speakers at the meeting, among others, included Ron van Dartel, the Dutch Ambassador to Serbia, who asked Albanians from Bujanovac to get engaged in establishment of the Albanian National Council through direct elections. The Ambassador, among other things, said that the Albanian National Council would make it possible for Albanians to better cooperate with the Coordination Body for South Serbia and the Belgrade-based authorities.
READ MOREMEDVEDJA – At a press-conference that was held in Medvedja on January 21, 2010, Minister Milan Markovic, and President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, announced the opening of the “Lece” mine this March, as well as resumption of the production and the hiring of 300 workers this April. Minister Markovic pointed out that at the beginning of his term of office at the Coordination Body, he had set two goals for Medvedja, which include the opening of bilingual faculty departments and resumption of operation of the “Lece” mine.
READ MOREМЕDVEDJA – On January 21, 2010, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body, paid a visit to Medvedja, as well as to students of the departments of the Nis University’s Faculties of Law and Economics in Medvedja. On that occasion, Minister Milan Markovic delivered to the students textbooks in Albanian for the second semester of the school year. Minister Markovic talked with the students about their studies and the problems they had encountered during the first semester. Mr. Markovic anticipates that there would be around 500 students at the two faculty departments in four years’ time.

Mrs. Cottrell said for the Bujanovac press that she carefully followed and supported the process of establishment of National Councils, particularly of the one in South Serbia, since this is the way for the Albanian ethnic minority to get a chance to present all its potentials.
READ MOREMEDVEDJA – On Thursday, January 21, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body, along with a delegation of businessmen led by Miroslav Bogicevic, the owner and Director of “Farmakom MB” Company, is going to visit the municipality of Medvedja. Members of the delegation include Radivoje Milanovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, as well as representatives of the electric battery plant from Sombor, the dairy plant from Sabac, the industrial complex from Guca, the foundry from Pozega, the mining and smelting works from Zajecar, the agricultural and food – processing plant “7 juli”, the agricultural and food-processing plant “Beograd”, the “RDS Group” project engineering company and Radio and Television Bor (RTB). The visit is aimed at reaching an agreement on the date when the “Lece” mine is to begin operating and at the possibilities for making new investments in the municipality of Medvedja.
