Presevo, Bujanovac, Меdvedja – Aleksandar Lipkovski, the Chairman of the National Educational Council, said that the agenda of the next session of the National Educational Council, which would be held on April 11, would include a proposal of a new curriculum for the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades and the new curriculum for the fifth grade of primary school.
According to him, the key innovation in the proposal, which was prepared by the Institute for Advancement of Education, was the introduction of information technology and computing as a compulsory school subject, which would be taught once per week in the fifth and sixth grade and twice per week in the seventh and eighth grade.
Instead of technical and IT education, a new school subject, called technique and technology, would be introduced, which in comparison to the existing school subject, also changes the mode of its teaching in the seventh and eighth grade, so that instead of two classes, students would have one class per week, plus a block of 30 classes annually.
There should also be changes in the existing school subject of physical education, which shall henceforth be called physical and health education.
