Presevo – There are more and more cases of measles in Presevo, whereas 13 infected people have been registered so far, "said Driton Saliu, the Director of the Health Center in Presevo. 

“Five adult and eight child patients have been reported, while some new case of the disease emerges every day,” Mr. Saliu said for the “Tanjug” press agency.   

The epidemic of measles in the municipality of Presevo ​​was reported on March 6 by the Institute of Public Health.

Mr. Saliu said that the health center had taken all possible protective measures, which included improved hygiene, protection of the medical personnel and the isolation room for the sick.

“We, as a health center, have the necessary capacity, while all our services are prepared. Every new patient diagnosed with measles is reported to the Department of Public Health, "he said.

He said that the health center had a fully equipped medical team that immediately controlled family members of those suffering from measles.

Mr. Saliu said that Presevo belonged to the group of the least developed municipalities in Serbia, and that because it was a border city, there was a higher risk of the spread of measles there due to migration, as well as to the reception center for immigrants, who were coming there from different parts of the world.

There are, presently, 3,538 measles patients in Serbia.
