Presevo – Customs officers, in cooperation with the police, seized over 400 grams of gold jewelry at the Presevo border crossing, which a female passenger tried to hide in her bra.

The violation was discovered when a "Nissan" vehicle with German license plates, carrying a married couple from Northern Macedonia, arrived for control at the exit line at around 2.30 pm.  

Although they had reported that they carried only their personal luggage and the allowed amount of money, they were taken to a personal search room, where several bags with gold necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and brooches were found in the bra of the 49-year-old female passenger.

The total weight of the jewelry is 425 grams, the value of which is estimated at more than 1.2 million dinars, the “Tanjug” news agency reports.

Since the person at issue is a foreign citizen, the competent court reached a decision, in an urgent procedure, on the permanent confiscation of gold jewelry, and the female passenger was fined for the committed violation, the Customs Administration stated.
