GRANTS FOR POPULATION POLICY MEASURES APPROVED TO MEDVEDJA

Medvedja – The Ministry without Portfolio, which is responsible for demography and population policy, issued, on May 21, a public call for grants for co-financing the population policy measures of the local self-government in the Republic of Serbia in 2018.

The public call was open until June 14, 2018, while 71 proposed measures or applications were received.

Based on the Proposal of the decision on the allocation of funds for co-financing the population policy measures of the local self-governments, Minister Slavica Djukic Dejanovic adopted the decision on the approval of funding for the population policy measures of the local self-governments.

Pursuant to that decision, the municipality of Medvedja and Lebane received around 21.5 million dinars for the population policy measures, or for bringing work and parenthood into line, preserving and improving reproductive health and resolving the problem of infertility.

The amount of 9,423.000 dinars was approved to the municipality of Medvedja, of which the Ministry’s share is around 7.4 million dinars, while the rest of nearly 1.9 million dinars if the municipality of Medvedja’s share.

The grants appropriated by the program are intended for co-financing the population policy measures that are of importance to the demographic development of local self-governments with the aim of improving the demographic parameters.

The overall objective of the program is providing support to the sustainable demographic development of local self-government in the Republic of Serbia, or to the stationed population, ie. the population in which the next generation will be the same size as the existing one.

The local self-governments are obliged to return to the budget of the Republic of Serbia all the approved but unspent funds under the program or the funds spent contrary to the purpose.
