FUNDS FOR LINKING WORKERS’ ACCRUED WORK TIME PROVIDED

Belgrade – All former employees for whom employers did not pay any contributions and who have a “break” in the accrued work time can sign up for having their accrued work time linked until the end of 2017.  The funds for that purpose were provided from the state budget, while eligible to sign up are those employed at the companies undergoing the privatization process, restructuring or bankruptcy.

According to the conclusion of the Government, the decision applies to all those who had the “restructuring” mark in their work records on August 13, 2014, as well as to those who became eligible for retirement. The same applies to former employees of the companies against which bankruptcy proceedings were launched in 2015, 2016 and 2017, as well as to all those who become eligible for retirement in 2017 and whose employment will be terminated on those grounds.

Until the end of last year, only 923 workers managed to have their accrued work time linked   and to meet one of the retirement requirements, even though the government had provided the funds for 13,000 employees of the companies undergoing restructuring. Although the responsible authorities emphasized in 2016 that the deadline for linking the accrued work time would not be extended, the government decided to do so in 2017, too, because the response of the employees that the decision concerned was poor.

Employees who decide to have their accrued work time linked in the above-mentioned manner must know that the procedure of submitting requests by employees of the companies undergoing restructuring is different from the one applying to former employees of the companies against which bankruptcy proceedings were launched over the past two years or will be launched this year.
