Medvedja – The municipality of Medvedja and the Balkan Center for Migration and Humanitarian Activities (BCM) launched, more than two years ago, the first phase of the project of improving the rule of law in local self-governments called the "Legal Bulletin Board."
Medvedja – The municipality of Medvedja and the Balkan Center for Migration and Humanitarian Activities (BCM) launched, more than two years ago, the first phase of the project of improving the rule of law in local self-governments called the "Legal Bulletin Board."
The legal board includes 16 different legal topics that are presented in flyers. The meeting with Mayor Nebojsa Arsic and Svetlana Todorovic, the Head of the municipal administration, was, on behalf of the Center for Migration, attended by Nada Culjak Banjac, the Director of the BCM program, and by Miroslav Draskovic, the head of the group and a legal advisor.
The Balkan Center for Migration is a non-governmental organization that has been engaged in providing free legal aid in Serbia for 14 years so far. The project includes 24 municipalities and is aimed at providing adequate legal assistance to poor people and vulnerable groups, such as refugees, internally displaced persons and members of minority communities. The implementation of the second phase of the project is underway, which was preceded by the signing of the Memorandum on cooperation in promoting the rule of law, democratization and ensuring the right to free legal assistance and distribution of flyers in local communities
The population of Medvedja will be provided free legal aid by a legal entity that will be engaged by the BCM and the municipality of Medvedja for a year. The Balkan Center for Migration will provide to the said legal entity adequate training for legal assistance and the possibility of permanent consultation regarding work to be performed, and upon the expiry of the first year, if the requirements are met, the municipality will continue cooperating with it.
