Bujanovac – The “Kolo” folk ensemble, which is the oldest folk ensemble in Bujanovac and which was established under the name of "Polet" in 1932, celebrated, along with its guests, 85 years of its work and existence by holding a large concert at the Bujanovac community center.
The concert was opened by the "St. Prohor Pcinjski" choir from Bujanovac, while guests from Greece, who presented the choreographies from the Thessaloniki area at the concert, performed for the Bujanovac audience, too.
Slobodan Dimitrijevic, the host of the event, said that since 1972, since when the "Kolo" folk ensemble had had that name, it had over 2,000 performances throughout Serbia, the former Yugoslavia and almost the whole of Europe, as well as that between six and seven thousand members had passed through the ensemble.
Mrs. Marija Kovacevic , the former head of the “Kolo” folk ensemble, and the most influential choreographer without whom one could not imagine the history of that folk ensemble, who had though many generations of “Kolo” how to do folk dancing, had a place of honor at the event.
After the concert, the celebration of the birthday party went on at the "Ethno Tavern 2015" in Bujanovac.
