Presevo – Thanks to the donation of the German NGO "Help", the first soup kitchen was opened in Presevo, where 400 cooked meals per day are prepared for the socially disadvantaged and the elderly from the area of the municipality.
Ahmet Halimi, Secretary of the Red Cross Branch Office in Presevo, said that the "Help" NGO had provided all the necessary equipment for preparation of meals, which was done according to the program of the Red Cross of Serbia.
"The soup kitchen has been operating for two days, while as of today cooked meals will be distributed in all local communities, too. Meals are cooked and distributed on the premises of the Red Cross Branch Office in Preševo from 10 am to 11 am, while they will be distributed in local communities from 11.30 am onwards,” Mr. Halimi said.
He said that for the time being everyone interested in getting the meals from the soup kitchen can get them, and that in case of an increase in the number of soup kitchen users, the soup kitchen could prepare 1,200 meals per shift.
“We prepare one cooked meal a day and we work according to the program of the Red Cross of Serbia. The norms and criteria are the same in all the municipalities from Presevo to Subotica. As for the division of meals, we will find out if there are more citizens who need meals, so that the entire area of the municipality of Presevo could be covered,"Mr. Halimi said.
