Bujanovac – This year, the FANLW from Bujanovac paid tribute to the forgotten heroes who had given their lives for the liberation of that area in the Second World War.
On July 4, the Fighters Day, which was once marked as a national holiday and was a non-working day, the delegation of FAVNLW (Federation of Associations of Veterans of the National Liberation War) laid flowers at the memorial plaque to Petar Vasiljevic in Petra Drapsina Street in Bujanovac, and they did the same on Saturday, July 7, on the Uprising Day.
„At 10 am, we laid flowers at the memorial plaque to Zikica, which is on the wall of the Cultural Center in Bujanovac. He was killed near the antimony mine in Trnovac during the fight against the occupiers in 1941. Zikica was from the village of Ranilug, and that is why we had guests from that place in Kosovo and Metohija on Saturday," said Bozidar Nedeljkovic, the Head of the Veterans' Organization in Bujanovac.
The delegation then visited the village of Biljaca where they paid tribute to the partisans killed there.
Bujanovac was liberated in World War II on September 7, 1944, and that date was celebrated as the Day of the Municipality until 2002, when it was replaced by May 9, which is celebrated in the world as Europe Day and the Day of Victory over Fascism.
