Bujanovac – The President of the municipality of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, received in his office representatives of the Albanian company for the production of tobacco "Igla", whose visit, according to him, was a good opportunity for restarting tobacco growing in the municipality of Bujanovac.

Representatives of the family company from Skadar also met with former local tobacco producers with whom they discussed the possibility of restarting the production, the local self-government said.

"President Arifi informed the owner of the company about the tradition and experience of our citizens in tobacco growing, the re-launch of which would improve the social situation in the municipality of Bujanovac", it was said in the statement.  

Tobacco can be grown only upon the agreed production and in precisely determined areas.

Until 2015, tobacco was purchased from Bujanovac individual producers by the American company "Alliance One Tobacco".

Following the withdrawal of that buyer, the planting of tobacco completely ceased.
