Bujanovac, Levosoje – The cow of Nedzmedin Idrizi from the village of Biljaca is the absolute winner of the second fair of Simmental cattle held at the stadium at the village of Levosoje. He was awarded the prize of 30,000 dinars.

79 cows participated in the competition. Of 1,666 purebred cattle and 431 heifers, which will be subsidized after calving, 79 of them, which had been elected by the competent committee, paraded in front of the jury members.

The purebred “Alpino” goats from three households, as well as "Wurttemberg" sheep from 12 Bujanovac households, participated in the exhibition for the first time. 

Mr. Kamberi and Mr. Milkovic wished welcome to everyone and announced increased investments in agriculture.

While opening this year's exhibition, which was sponsored by the municipality of Bujanovac, Mayor Saip Kamberi congratulated the veterinary station in Bujanovac on organizing the event and said to the exhibitors, cattle-breeders and all the farmers that the local self-government would increase the activities for improving the conditions for their getting involved in agriculture.

“It is certain that we will knock on all doors. The two MPs in the Serbian Parliament, who represent our environment, will help us do that. We plan to double the budget for agriculture next year, thus helping those who want to get engaged in this business, "said Mr. Kamberi, wishing that each individual would "improve the work on their farms."

Miodrag Milkovic, the Director of the Veterinary Station in Bujanovac, thanked all the participants and visitors and expressed his satisfaction with the interest shown in the exhibition.

"I would like to thank, among others, Zoran Stankovic, PhD,   the President of the Coordination Body, for the support that has lasted for 14 years and for the assistance with subsidizing the artificial insemination of cattle, sheep and goats. So far, 478 households have been selected for obtaining subsidies for purebred cows. I hope that this event, which has now become traditional, will, next year, include the municipality of Presevo, too,” Mr. Milkovic said.

The second exhibition of Simmental cows at the village of Levosoje, near Bujanovac, was attended by members of the Committee for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the National Assembly of Serbia, which was headed by Marjan Risticevic, the head of the said Committee.

Yesterday, the aforementioned committee held its fifth meeting in Bujanovac, during which cattle-breeding, fruit and vegetable-growing and rural development were discussed.
