ZORAN STANKOVIC, THE PRESIDENT OF THE COORDINATION BODY- A STATEMENT GIVEN TO THE EVENING NEWS DAILY

“In 14 years of the existence of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the state invested 70 million euros in the infrastructure of those multi-ethnic municipalities.  Thanks to foreign donors, another 35 million euros were invested in the development of the municipalities, while this year, the state, through the same governmental body, provided 246 million dinars, which is an increase of nine per cent compared to last year, said Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body.

Mr. Stankovic doesn’t deny the existence of political problems, but adds that these issues will be resolved by September-through the Albanian requirements, which were set out in seven points.

“The pursued state policy is primarily focused on improving the economic situation.  Problems are identified and gradually solved through daily contacts with the local self-governments”, says Mr. Stankovic. He underscored the opening of the maternity ward in Presevo, the beginning of operation of the Subotica-based Faculty in Bujanovac and the granting of scholarships to 250 secondary school students and 40 university students as the most important activities that would  improve the local population’s standard of living.
