EUROPEAN COMMISSION’S INITIATIVE: MEET THE NEIGHBOURS OF THE NEIGHBOURS THROUGH THE ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL

The European Commission has launched an online film festival in order to bring young people from Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean closer to each other.

The European Commission has launched an online film festival in order to bring young people from Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean closer to each other.

As the COVID-19 crisis prevents pupils and students around the world from attending their schools and colleges, the European Union has launched an initiative to encourage young people from EU Member States and partner countries to access diverse cultural contents in order to promote the idea of global citizenship and solidarity, and arouse among them an interest in discovering new worlds and cultures, even while they are at home.

The initiative "Meet the Neighbors of the Neighbors at the Time of the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic" provides students, as well as all young people from Africa and the Mediterranean, with free access to a selection of around 40 high-quality feature films through the FestivalScope.com streaming platform. (https://www.festivalscope.com/all/festival/euffestival-online-film-festival/2020). Around 20 European feature films are available to young people in Africa and the Mediterranean, while twenty films from Africa and the Mediterranean are available to young viewers in Europe and the Balkans. The screening of the films will last for more than 27 days, starting from May 9, on the day of marking the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Schuman Declaration, until June 4. Access to the streaming platform is free.

"Meet the Neighbours of the Neighbours" is an initiative implemented as part of the project Support to the European Film Festivals.
