Belgrade – The European Union’s new development program "EU PRO" issued four public calls for the improvement of infrastructure in 99 local self-governments in the Republic of Serbia, among which are the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, too, for which ten million euros were earmarked.
The local self-governments will, through the public calls, have the opportunity to draw up and implement the projects related to the improvement of public and business infrastructure, as well as to prepare the planning and technical documentation.
“Through the call for the improvement of public infrastructure, the EU will, with over 5.2 million euros, support the construction and renovation of public buildings, educational, health care and social care facilities and will, thus, have a direct impact on improving the quality of life of the population," it was said in the statement given by the program.
3.7 million euros were earmarked for the improvement of business infrastructure, and the local self-governments will, within that call, be able to obtain funds for the building of industrial zones and technology parks or tourist destinations, so that they could attract new investments.
300,000 euros were provided for the financing of the technical documentation, while 750,000 euros were provided for the financing of the planning documentation.
In order to bring the requirements of the call and the manner of applying closer to the applicants, the EU PRO will, in the period from May 8 to 18, 2018, hold information sessions for all interested local self-governments, while the details of all the calls, as well as the time and place of holding the sessions, will be published in the coming days.
These are the initial activities of the “EU PRO," through which the EU will, over the next three years, earmark 25 million euros to support the local development, which will be implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The new program will cover 99 cities and municipalities in Sumadija, as well as those in the western, southern and eastern Serbia.
