Brussels – The European Commission has launched a competition for aspiring young journalists as part of the Youth4Regions program.

Youth4Regions is a program that enables journalism students and young journalists to discover what the EU is doing in their region.  

As part of the call, a total of 33 participants will be selected, who will receive an invitation to travel to Brussels during the European Week of Regions and Cities, scheduled for October 2020, where they will participate in training, work in newsrooms with the mentoring provided by renowned journalists and visit EU institutions and media outlets.

Successful participants will also have the opportunity to win the Megalizzi – Niedzielski Award for Young Journalists. The call is open to participants from EU Member States, neighboring countries and candidate countries for EU accession.

A survey conducted among former program participants showed that 18% of respondents received a job offer thanks to the program, while 97% of them felt that the program helped them to improve their knowledge of the EU and regional policy.
