The development of the plan was one of the priorities of inter-municipal partnerships between Vranje, Presevo, Bujanovac and Vladicin Han, which was established under the USAID’s Sustainable Local Development Program.

Mayor of Vranje, and Presidents of the municipalities of Bujanovac, Presevo, Vladicin Han, Surdulica, Targoviste and Bosilegrad supported the establishment of a working group, which, with the assistance and support of the Centre for the Development of Jablanica and Pcinj Districts, participated in the preparation of the regional plan and set solid waste management goals.

Preparation of the regional solid waste management plan for the Pcinj District is funded by the USAID’s Sustainable Local Development Program, and it is expected to show the possibilities of resolving this high-priority matter in other municipalities in the south-eastern Serbia, where there are serious problems in this environmental field.
