Bujanovac – A two-day enrollment of the newly admitted students in the first grade of secondary schools in Serbia in the 2017/18 school year started.
When it comes to the "Saint Sava" school in Bujanovac, for which the admission of 180 students is planned, only 106 students opted for it. According to Biserke Jovic, the School Principal, the only filled up class is the one for future nurses and teachers.
“26 students opted for studying for financial administrators and 18 for business secretaries, which means that there are 12 vacancies. The class of mechanical technicians is half filled, with only 15 students. Only four students of the 15 provided for by the call for applications signed up for becoming welders, while no one is interested in becoming a locksmith. The desire to become a chef was expressed by 11 out of 15 planned students, while there are only two students interested in becoming pastry chefs, so that there are 13 vacancies there. It is evident that elementary school graduates are mostly interested in a four-year education, while there is very little interest in a three-year one, although under the agreements concluded with business entities, employment is guaranteed to the first generation of welders and locksmiths. The greatest interest in Serbia is for medical schools. Unfortunately, it is also indicative that in the parts south of Nis there is very little interest for apprenticeship, "Biserka Jovic said.
174 eighth graders from the municipality of Bujanovac, who were thought in Serbian, passed the final exam, which means that more than two classes of students decided to continue their education elsewhere.
According to the available data, there are 403 unfulfilled paces in secondary schools in the Pcinj district. When it comes to Vranje, there are some vacancies only at the agricultural and veterinary school and at the chemical- technological school, while the grammar school, medical school and the school of economics and commerce are full up.
