Presevo – The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, announced local elections in three cities and municipalities, including Presevo, where voting would take place on March 28.

The local Assembly in Presevo was dissolved in mid-December last year, and an interim body was introduced because no session had been held since August 27.

Mr. Dacic said that the election activities would commence when the decisions came into force, or when they were published in the "Official Gazette".

Apart from Presevo, local elections will be held in Zajecar and Kosjeric.

“The mandate of councilors in the Municipal Assembly of Zajecar and the Municipal Assembly of Kosjeric expired, while an interim body was introduced in the Municipal Assembly of Presevo”, Mr. Dacic said.

Upon the dissolution of the local Assembly, the Government of the Republic of Serbia decided that the Head of the Interim Body should be the President of the Municipality of Presevo, Sciprim Arifi.

The Assembly was dissolved and the Interim Body was introduced in Presevo in September 2017 as well, and early elections were called.
