Bujanovac – At yesterday’s session of the Bujanovac Emergency Situations Staff, a proposal for introducing an emergency situation was sent to Mayor Saip Kamberi after Dr. Lela Jovanovic, the Director of the Health Center, in her most dramatic address so far, had cried out that "young people are dying from the coronavirus and everyone must get serious urgently or we will be in a worse situation than the one in Novi Pazar". 

"Young people, who were completely healthy until COVID-19 and who had no previous diagnoses, are dying, while weddings are being held in Bujanovac. There are rumors going on that someone from the municipality allowed that. Cafes and bars are working, while municipal workers come to work with a fever," said the Director of the Bujanovac Health Center.

She emphasized that she understood the people who said they had to work, especially the caterers, but that it was the time to save lives.

She pointed out that two employees of the Bujanovac Health Center had tested positive for the corona virus, and that three more were waiting for the test results, as well as that two people from Bujanovac and one each from Lopardince and Spancevac had tested positive for the virus.

“A total of 45 cases have been recorded in the territory of the municipality since the beginning of the pandemic, and at this moment we are waiting for the test results for another 41 people," Dr. Jovanovic said.  

According to her, 44 PCR tests and 236 serological ones have been done at the Bujanovac Health Center since June 29.

The Secretary of the Red Cross Branch Office in Bujanovac, Bratislav Lazarevic, wondered why the measures adopted on July 8 were not respected, calling the report of the Municipal Inspection for the control of the implementation of those measures "ridiculous".

“There are no fines and no one complies with anything. Let us introduce a state of emergency if that will give them the authority to impose fines. We witnessed two tragic events this week. I understand the grief of the families in Veliki Trnovac and Zbevac and I sincerely sympathize with them, but a thousand people gathered at each of the two funerals and I am afraid that the consequences will be horrifying ", Mr. Lazarevic said.  

According to the Deputy Commander of the Staff, Stojanca Arsic, the municipal bodies in charge of control must work every day and control and impose fines for any non-compliance with the measures.

As it was explained, the emergency measures were not implemented for a whole week since the adoption, because the decision of the Republican Crisis Staff, which would be valid for the entire country, was awaited.
