Мedvedja – Goran Puzovic, Director of the JP Srbija vode, toured the works on the second phase of the regulation of the Jablanica river bed in Medvedja.

Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medevedja, emphasized that since the construction of the riverbed until that day no works had been carried out to repair the quay of the Jablanica River, nor to regulate the riverbed.

“Accordingly, the municipality of Medvedja has repeatedly initiated meetings with the competent authorities of the PE “Srbijavode”. Following the successful outcome of those meetings, a study was elaborated for the rehabilitation of the riverbed. At the request of the local self- government of Medvedja, the works were financed by the PE "Srbijavode

The contractor is HSV from Vlasotince.

The cleaning, rehabilitation and regulation of the quay and river bed of the Jablanica River is divided into three phases, of which 18.5 million dinars were invested in the first phase, which included the removal of shrubs, vegetation and other rough cleaning works. The second phase involves the cleaning of the Lapasnica River upstream of the estuary and the continued cleaning and rehabilitation of the Jablanica River upstream of the end of the regulated bed. This phase cost 6.5 million dinars, while the third phase is planned to begin in the spring, which will cost 12.5 million dinars. Numerous damages of the river bank-line were observed during the removal of deposits.  

In the forthcoming period, it was said, the elaboration of the study on the third phase of rehabilitation would be needed, which would include the construction of 350 meters of river bank-line. The third phase of works will be in the Business Program of the PE “Srbijavode” for 2020.

These works are important, people in the municipality of Medvedja say, because the regulation of the Jablanica riverbed will ensure complete safety.  So far, 1,170 meters of river bed have been regulated, while another 300 meters will be put under control.
