Bujanovac– The project of digitization of the frescoes in the church of the Prohor Pcinjski Monastery, on the eve of the 950th anniversary of its founding, will be co-financed by the Ministry of Culture with 370,000 dinars. This will be done in accordance with the decision of the Commission for the evaluation of projects within the competition for the allocation of funds for financing or co-financing projects in the field of digitalization of cultural heritage and contemporary creativity in Serbia for 2020. 

The Diocese of Vranje will have to provide from other sources the remaining portion of funds up to 670,000 dinars, which is how much the entire project will cost. 

The frescoes in the monastery were renovated from 2006 until last year. They have four layers that were created over several centuries, starting from the fourteenth century.

The realization of the program of the central celebration of the great jubilee, nine and a half centuries of the Monastery, as well as the session of the Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Prohor Pcinjski Monastery, was marred by the coronavirus pandemic.
