Bujanovac – Pursuant to the recommendations of the competent Republican commission, the Special Rehabilitation Hospital in Bujanovac Spa received the first group of fifty patients to be treated for diabetes at the natural health resort.  

The treatment includes the baths in thermal mineral water and the use of natural carbon dioxide injections that are administered subcutaneously. 

According to the official data, there are around 15,000 people suffering from diabetes in the Pcinj District, and as many of them in the Jablanica District.  

So far, diabetes patients in Serbia have been treated for diabetes only in Vrnjacka and Gamzigrad Spas.

Prior to going to the spa, the patient should contact his or her general practitioner, who refers him or her to a radiologist. The patent is, thereupon, supposed to visit a physiatrist for an expert opinion. The decision to send a patient to a spa for treatment is issued by the competent medical board on the basis of the collected medical records.
