Preševo – On Easter, Zoran Djordjevic, Defense Minister, visited members of the army and the police at the “Kozjak” military base, which is located on the Serbian-Macedonian border, as well as the “Ševadske livade” military base, which is located in the ground security zone.
At the "Kozjak" base, which is located in Sector A that covers 104 kilometers of the state border, Minister Djordjevic familiarized himself with the tasks that members of the army and police had been carrying out since the beginning of their engagement last July.
In addition to the prevention of illegal entry and smuggling of migrants, they take care of the security of citizens and protect their property.
The Minister discussed with members of the Army and the Ministry of Interior the possibilities of improving conditions at that base.
During talks with the professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers at the "Ševadske livade" base, the Minister said that intensive work was being done on improving their material conditions, primarily the one on increasing their salaries, which would not be raised linearly, since professional soldiers and non-commissioned officers would get a greater increase, while high-ranked officers would get a lower one.
"We visited two bases today and saw for ourselves that the Army and the police do their jobs on holidays, too, so that the citizens of Serbia may be unconcerned when it comes to their safety," Minister Djordjevic said following his visit to the bases.
