Belgrade – The Crisis Staff has decided that secondary and primary schools, from the fifth to the eighth grade, switch to online classes. Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said after the session of the Crisis Staff that a decision had been made to start the school holidays on December 21 and end it on January 18.

The Crisis Staff suggested that younger primary school children, those from the first to the fourth grade, should continue going to school. Dr. Tiodorovic said that kindergartens were not to be closed, because there was no need or justification for that.

"Nevertheless, we have made the decision that primary schools, from the first to the fourth grade, go on working in accordance with the existing system.  Primary schools, from the fifth to the eighth grade, will switch to the online system and that will last until the beginning of the holidays. We proposed it and it will probably be implemented", Dr. Tiodorovic said.

Such a decision applies to all high schools, the epidemiologist said.

“We have concluded that what scares us the most occurs in secondary schools – the infecting of secondary school students, who then bring it to their homes",  Dr.Tiodorovic said.

Dr. Tiodorovic also said that the faculties, which have their own autonomy, were proposed to conduct online classes too, but that certain faculties, such as those of medicine or natural sciences, would have to organize exercises, which should be done in compliance with all the measures.
