Bujanovac – The corona virus seriously hit the Medical Emergency Service of the Bujanovac Health Center, so that currently three doctors and one medical technician are "out of action", while the results for all other employees are awaited.

Two doctors, who are from Vranje and Bujanovac, were positive on the PCR test, while the doctor from Presevo has all the symptoms and is being treated at home.

The doctor from Vranje was hospitalized in Belgrade, while the one from Bujanovac is in home isolation, without any symptoms.

The Director of the institution, Dr. Daliborka Pavlovic, confirmed that in recent days "the number of healthcare workers linked to COVID 19 has been increasing". However, she points out that the situation is not as dramatic as it seems at first glance.

“It is not so dramatic, because serological tests have shown that many people have had COVID 19 on their feet and that they have both new and old antibodies. To be sure, we also do swabs (PCR) and wait for a certain number of results. This is done to rule out the possibility that we have a reservoir of infection there. So when a negative smear test arrives, the worker returns to work, no matter how serologically positive he/she is. We had such a case yesterday with a technician ", says the Director.

When asked whether the Medical Emergency Service had a sufficient number of staff to function smoothly, Dr. Pavlovic answered in the affirmative.

“The corona virus is definitely in the Health Center, and it seems that it has passed through the bodies of most of the employees.  They have all been tested and we are waiting for the results," she concluded.

In addition to doctors and technicians, the support staff is also endangered, because one driver was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia.

The Medical Emergency Service lost one employee in August who died from the consequences of COVID 19.
