Medvedja – Contracts on the return of funds invested in the boosting of agriculture and rural development of the municipality of Medvedja were signed with farmers in the hall of the Cultural Center of Medvedja. Under the program of measures for 2018, 10,000,000.00 dinars were earmarked for agriculture.   

Regarding the measure of making investments in physical assets of farms, the funds invested in the purchase of seedlings, livestock, machinery and irrigation systems will be returned and they will total 8,750,000 dinars. Funds for this measure have already been spent and the call for applications is closed.  

Funds in the amount of 750,000 dinars for the measure of artificial insemination of cows and heifers have been earmarked, while the competition is in progress. 

Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, awarded the contracts to 120 farm owners from the municipality of Medvedja.

“I can freely say that we used the funds for boosting agriculture very economically this year.   By reducing the maximum refunded amount per farm, we managed to have a larger number of paid requests, while around 90% of requests for reimbursement are below the maximum specified amount. We tried not to deviate from the rules, so that all those who applied will be paid. Of course, priority was given to the farms that have not, so far, applied for any of the stimulus measures, but we also tried to meet the requests of others who had invested in their agricultural production. We will try to encourage agriculture with larger amounts in the future, too, because it is one of the priority sectors of the economy in the territory of our municipality,” Mayor Arsic said.

 A new loan support measure has been introduced this year, under which the municipality pays the entire amount of interest for agricultural loans, for which 500,000 dinars has been allocated. The competition is still open and it will run until November 1, 2018.
