Vranjska Spa – The inter-regional "Golden Flute of South Serbia" pipers’ competition will be held at 6 pm on Friday, June 23, on the plateau between the “Kicer” restaurant and the Special Hospital in Vranjska Spa.
The said competition, which is organized by the Adult Education Center from Vranje, is a tradition that has lasted for as many as seventeen years.
Participants in the competition include pipers from the Pcinj, Jablanica, Nis, Pirot and Toplica Districts, who will perform in the categories of playing ethno and contemporary music.
“When it comes to playing ethno music, pipers will be dressed in regional national costumes and will play the songs or wheel dancing music from the places from which they come, accompanied by an orchestra. As for playing modern music, participants can be dressed in stylized costumes and play some Serbian songs. We also have a third category of young pipers, who are from 12 to 16 years old and who play without orchestral accompaniment, "said Gordana Dimitrijevic, Director of the Adult Education Center.
As part of the event, an ethno soiree will be held, during which folk costumes, various objects and pottery items will be displayed.
Vranjska Spa hosts the event for the seventh time, while, in the previous years, the “Golden Flute of South Serbia” was held in Vranje.
