The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, as the central governmental institution with the mandate to promote equality in all social relations and to protect all social groups from discrimination, established the ANNUAL AWARD FOR THE MUNICIPALITY/CITY OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES for all the local self-governments in Serbia, with the aim of promoting and strengthening gender in all fields and of providing better and fairer living conditions for all male and female citizens in local communities.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the conference that will be held in December, when the International Human Rights Day is observed. The recognition will be awarded each and every year, while the winner will receive a special equality logo to use until the next winner is selected and will be promoted as an example of best practice in our country and in Europe, through the European Network of equality bodies – EQUINET.
Brankica Jankovic, the Commissioner for Equality, calls on all municipalities and cities to apply and contribute to a more intensive development of our society on the basis of tolerance, equality and respect for human rights of all our male and female citizens.
The deadline for submitting the filled-in questionnaire in a written or electronic form expires on November 20, 2018.
