Medvedja – The Center for Emergency Situations in the municipality of Medvedja held a session due to the announced future major snow drifts in the municipality.
Nebojsa Artsic, the Head of the Center for Emergency Situations, met with the staff members of the center in order to familiarize them with the warning alert.
“It is necessary to take all the necessary measures, put on standby the appropriate teams that have been trained to respond in such situations, and work on the protection of critical road and electricity infrastructure, "Mr. Arsic said.
The Electric Power Industry of Serbia has a problem in the direction of the village of Tulare, along a 50 km stretch of the road, where 32 power stations are connected. Due to the increased needs on the ground and with only nine workers, it cannot do everything on time. Zarko Djordjevic, the Head of the Business Unit in Medvedja, says that 50 per cent of the power station facilities and 40 km of the transmission line were reconstructed in 2016, while the power grid in the municipality is 300 km long.
“The teams for maintaining and cleaning the roads are in the field. The machines are ready, and we, now, have enough grit for spreading on the roads. We ordered 100 tons of grit, which is enough to keep our roads safe and passable for traffic," Stanko Milosevic, the Director of the Public Utility Company “Obnova”, said.
"The Red Cross Branch Office in Medvedja provided food packages for its beneficiaries, which are distributed in the field. There is also enough food for the soup kitchen, the services of which are used by 500 people," said Ljuljeta Kosumi, the Director of the Red Cross Branch Office in Medvedja.
Also, the Rules of Procedure of the Municipal Center for Emergency Situations was adopted, as well as the Report on the Work of the Operational Center of the Municipality of Medvedja for 2016 and the Work Plan for 2017.
