    On June 5 and 6, 2010, the “Junior” volley-ball club from Bujanovac took part in a volley-ball tournament, which was organized by the “Panda” volley-ball club from Vranje.  Apart from the said two volley-ball clubs, participants in the tournament included the “Mladost” volley-ball club, the “Dositej Obradovic” and “Ju sportska hala” volley-ball schools and the “Vranje” volley-ball club.

    Riza Halimi: We are Pleased with the Albanian National Council Election Results

    At the first elections for the Albanian National Council in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Riza Halimi’s Party for Democratic Action (PDA), which is the oldest party in the region, won the greatest number of votes (81 per cent). The remaining votes went to the list of candidates proposed by the Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA) of Rahmi Zuljfiju. The Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA), the Leader of which Ragmi Mustafa, the current president of the municipality of Presevo, and the Democratic Union of the Valley (DUV) of Skender Destani, MD, boycotted the elections and announced that they would refuse to acknowledge the election results.

    First Elections for Representatives of Ethic Minorities in Serbia

    The elections at which over 400,000 members of ethnic minorities from 161 municipalities elected their representatives for the National Minority Councils were held for the first time in Serbia yesterday. The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights promulgated a total of 77 lists, while most lists were submitted by the Vlach and Roma ethnic minorities.  Until 5 pm, 37.57 per cent of voters went to the polls, while the greatest turn out was in the regions of Vojvodina and Sandzak. The final voting results are going to be announced on June 9, 2010.

    MILK AND SOY FOR MEDVEDJA

    As part of the activity „Food for Everyone“, Sasa Dragin, Minister of Agriculture, delivered, yesterday, a donation to the Red Cross in Medvedja.  Minister Dragin handed over 17,000 liters of milk and two tons of soy. The donation was provided by “Mlekara Sabac” (Dairy Plan Sabac) and “Soja Protein” (Soya Protein) Company from Becej.

    MULTIETHNIC VOLLEY-BALL SCHOOL IN BUJANOVAC0

    Under the slogan „Let’s take our children away from the streets, and let them go in for sports”, a volley-ball club “Junior” from Bujanovac, with the support of the Coordination Body, organized a volley-ball school.  Over 60 persons, starting from pioneers, through cadets to juniors, got involved in the project, while children and the young of all ethnic backgrounds from Bujanovac take classes in volley-ball.

    DZAHID RAMADANI, FORMER DIRECTOR OF RTV BUJANOVAC, RECEIVED AN MA DEGREE FROM TEACHERS’ FACULTY IN VRANJE  

    Vranje, Bujanovac – Its is very rare for Albanians from South Serbia to obtain academic degrees from the institutions of higher learning. This statement was recently denied by Dzahid Ramadani, the former director of the local RTV Bujanovac, who obtained an MA degree from the Teachers’ Faculty in Vranje. The topic of his paper was „The Media in Education“. Mr. Ramadani has, thus, become one of few Albanians from South Serbia who obtained an MA degree from one of the Nis Univeristy’s  faculties.

    MULTIETHNIC BASKETBALL CLUB IN BUJANOVAC0

    A summer league basketball match between BSK Junior-Elita (from Bujanovac) and KK Jug (from Vranje) was held on Friday. At the end of February 2010, BSK Junior-Elita signed a multiethnic agreement on cooperation of the two clubs, while Minister Milan Markovic and the mayor of Bujanovac Saip Kamberi were guarantors of the agreement. Albanian, Serbian and Roma basketball players are going to play together for BSK Junior-Elita for the first time this year.

    COORDINATION BODY HELPS SPRING PLANTING IN LEVOSOJE0

    Last Friday, Minister Milan Markovic, the President of the Coordination Body, paid a visit to the village of Levosoje, which is situated in the municipality of Bujanovac. He firstly talked with members of the agricultural cooperative “Jug Levosoje”, which is an example of multi-ethnicity and which proves that co-operation between Albanians and Serbs is possible. Members of this agricultural cooperative received the funds through the Coordination Body’s open competition for repairing their agricultural machines and purchasing the seeds for spring planting.

    Minister Milan Markovic, the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, in Bujanovac

    On Friday, May 28, 2010, Minister Milan Markovic will pay a visit to the municipality of Bujanovac. As the President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, he will firstly visit the village of Levosoje. He is going to talk with members of the “Jug Levosoje” farm co-operative, the spring planting of which is funded by the Coordination Body. Minister Markovic will, thereafter, visit the “Vuk Karadzic” elementary school in Levosoje, which the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government assists with developing a gym construction project.
