    Vranje – A rigorous control of electricity thefts goes on by checking the proper functioning of electricity meters, announced the Nis-based “Jugoistok” company for distribution of electricity.  The “Jugoistok” company’s teams are currently controlling the proper functioning of each electricity meter, and if they find out any defects at the measuring points, the unauthorized consumption of electricity shall be calculated, the amounts of which can reach several hundred thousand dinars, said the competent persons of the company.  

    In addition, the filing of criminal charges shall follow, because the point at issue is a criminal offense.

    Medvedja – Leskovac police arrested and handed over to the basic public prosecutor in Lebane Z. I. (1962) from the municipality of Medvedja because it reasonably suspected that he had committed the crime of domestic violence, it was stated today.

    Z. I. is charged that on the evening of August 19 this year, at a family house and while being in a drunken state, he insulted and harassed, and then repeatedly struck his wife, who, as a result of the harassment and beating, sustained serious injuries.  

    The judge ordered the suspect a 30 – day custody.

    The “Jugoistok” company’s teams began disconnecting electricity to the electricity debtors who had received final notices for the payment of outstanding electricity debts 15 days before.  

    In early August, the company sent around 20,000 notices prior to disconnection of electricity, whereas it is believed that half of the electricity consumers responded to them.

Beside them, companies in the field of information and communication are also going to be sold. Such companies include Nis TV, Vranje RTV, Pirot TV, RTV Caribrod, Radio Bujanovac, Radio Leskovac, Radio Medvedja and Radio Pirot.

    Medvedja – The Mayor of Medvedja, Slobodan Draskovic, said that the damage caused in the municipality by the recent rainfall was estimated at around 104 million dinars.

    “The Commission for the Assessment of Damage, which was formed by the municipality, determined that the damage caused to the road infrastructure, housing and other facilities, as well as to the agricultural land, amounts to  a little more than 104 million dinars. We sent a detailed list of damages to the authorized institutions in Belgrade  and expect a response from them“, said Mr. Draskovic.

    Vranje – Vranje police said that 32 female persons, who had worked without employment contracts, were identified during the police check of restaurants in Bujanovac and Presevo.

    Bujanovac – By the prosecutor’s order, the police in Bujanovac decided to keep M.J (aged 48) in custody of up to 48 hours due to the suspicion that he had slapped a traffic policeman during the performance of his official duties, stated the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.
