The Ministry of European Integration of the Government of the Republic of Serbia launched a call for the selection of the best individual student papers on European integration and the process of our country's accession to the European Union.

The aim of the award competition is to directly involve young academic citizens in an open and reasoned debate on important aspects of the accession process and the membership of the Republic of Serbia in the European Union.

The papers should provide the answer to one of the following five questions:

1.   What does solidarity in the European Union and for the European Union mean after 70 years since the Schuman Declaration, 30 years since the Paris Charter for a New Europe and 20 years since the United Nations Millennium Declaration?

2.   Why does the European Union support the achievement of sustainable development of Serbia and can the European Green Agreement for the Western Balkans speed up our achievement of the goals of sustainable development by 2030?

3.   The EU's ability to respond to sudden global crises and the risks posed by epidemics and natural disasters: does, how and to what extent does the European integration process contribute to Serbia’s overcoming and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic?

4.    What kind of future does Europe want for Serbia as it is wanted?

5.    New factors and challenges in the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union.

A commission composed of professors from the University of Belgrade will evaluate the quality of the submitted papers, while fees in the amount of 85,000, 55,000 and 35,000 dinars are planned for the authors of the three best papers. In addition to the three best ranked papers, the Ministry will also publish other papers that meet the criteria in the electronic collection of student papers.

The competition is open to students of basic academic study programs and master's academic study programs of all universities in the Republic of Serbia.

The deadline for submitting papers is August 9, 2020.
