The European Movement in Serbia announced an invitation to the International Summer School "Engagement for Friendship: Changing Political Culture in the Balkans", which will be held in Belgrade from June 30 to July 7, 2019. The school is organized under the Jean Monnet project Democratization and Reconciliation in the Western Balkans.  

The summer school focuses on the role of friendship in initiating ethnic reconciliation in the region, aiming to counter the current hostile perception in the region by revealing positive stories of friendship and co-operation of the people.  We will try to show that there are many joint ventures and experiences behind the hostilities among the Balkan peoples that can lead to friendships. 

The aim is to establish a cooperative network of young researchers, civil society activists and students, and empower them to fight against the current hostility on a long-term basis.

The call is valid for young people, primarily students and activists of civil society organizations, who are interested in reconciliation and promotion of friendship.  The maximum number of summer school participants is 25.

The registration fee for the summer school is 30 euros (15 euros only for participants from Belgrade).  Applications are electronically received (by sending a filled-in application form and the accompanying documents to nina.lopandic@emins.org ) by June 4, 2019.  All the questions about the school and applying can be sent to the same e-mail address.
