Bujanovac – There will be no more sewage spills and an unbearable stench in Bujanovac after the collector in the city fecal station finally became operational.

The overhaul of the three existing and the purchase of another new pump cost JP "Komunalac" 3 million dinars, while the getting of the collector up and running, which did not operate for 5 years, lasted 3 months.

“Today, we have put into operation a facility that has not been operational since 2016 and that has been in a catastrophic condition, which is why the citizens suffered. After everything that has been done, there will no longer be sewer lakes in the town square after heavy rains, spills in the yards and homes of the residents, as well as at all critical points on the city streets," said the head of JP "Komunalac" Rusdi Halili.

He said that the pumps, which had just been repaired, were planned to be replaced in the foreseeable future.

Faecal floods most often occurred after heavy rains, because the sewage and atmospheric lines were not separated in Bujanovac, and now, says Mr. Halili, that will no longer be the case because the pumps will pull everything out of the system.
