The Human Rights Lawyers Committee – YUCOM recently published an Analysis of the Position of Local Ombudsmen in the Republic of Serbia.
The analysis was made as part of the project "Protector of Citizens in the Context of EU Integration" with the aim of formulating conclusions and making recommendations for improving the observed position. Capacity building of the Protector of Citizens, Provincial and Local Ombudsmen is a recommendation of the Screening Report, with the aim of undertaking a number of activities foreseen in the Action Plan for Chapter 23.
This analysis addressed the issues of the institutional framework for the work of local ombudsmen, the election procedure, administrative arrangements, complaints procedures of the citizens, work reports and other significant issues. The information was collected based on the response to a comprehensive questionnaire sent to local ombudsmen with the support of the Association of Local Ombudsmen.
