Belgrade – Ana Brnabic, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, said that a new decision on the maximum number of employees in the local self-governments in 2017 would be reached by the end of March, and that the biggest change, compared to previous ones, was that the reduction in employees would not be linear, while it would allow new employments. 

Minister Brnabic said that the Ministry was thinking of dividing the local self-governments into seven groups and of allowing them to hire new employees, which would be decided by the commission, the composition of which would be changed, so that it would include one representative of the Ministry.

The Minister announced a more drastic reduction in the number of employees in those local self-governments that had failed to reach an optimal number of employees.

 “That will be done in consultation with the local self-governments, " Minister Brnabic said, adding that she expected that  a new proposal on the maximum number of employees would be sent to all local self-governments in early March, as well as that the Ministry was open to consultations with each local self-government individually.
