Medvedja – Employment contracts were signed with twenty university graduates in Medvedja, so that there are currently no unemployed holders of university degree in that municipality. The local self-government is developing a project of providing assistance and support to young entrepreneurs, too.
The development program of the municipality of Medvedja called "Economic Empowerment of Youth" and the support of UNDP enabled the jobs for all twenty university graduates. This is an important event for the municipality of Medvedja, as well as for youth in this multi-ethnic environment.
Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of the municipality of Medvedja, said that that was a historic event for Medvedja:
“There are no more unemployed university graduates on the labor market and we are the best in Serbia in that respect. This is a project of the municipality of Medvedja, which is financed from the municipal budget, and these young people were awarded six-month contracts.”
Thanks to the implementation of new projects, young entrepreneurs from the municipality of Medvedja will soon receive support to start their own businesses. Medvedja is, thus, becoming an environment in which young people can see their future, which is why there are more and more people returning to their homeland.
