Presevo, Bujanovac, Мedvedja – By the end of 2019, all citizens of Serbia will get a home address and number and, thus, over three million of them, according to the Ministry of Interior’s data on the citizens residing in the streets without a specific house number, will eventually get the number.
Statistical data show that nearly 2.7 million people are registered at the addresses that have not even street names, which are popularly known as "no street name and number".
All this will be possible thanks to the project of improving the address register, which will be implemented at the initiative of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic. For instance, if we had had an updated address register, we would not have queued for health cards, because they would have been sent to the citizens’ home addresses. The citizens whose street names will be changed will have a reasonably long time to have the change made in their documents, too.
The Republican Geodetic Authority (RGA) is in charge of running the register, while it enters the addresses in the register on the basis of formal decisions on the naming of streets that are reached by local self-governments.
