Bujanovac – Primary school students in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja who attend classes in the Albanian language on Tuesday, for the first time in 20 years, started the school year with all the textbooks, which they had received for free.

According to Ragmi Mustafa, the President of the Albanian National Council (ANC), they will now be able to learn from the same books as their peers from Tirana, Skadar and Vlora.

According to him, in addition to the Ministry of Education of Albania, where the books came from, the Kosovo authorities also participated in the "realization of the dream of previous generations" and set aside around 140,000 euros for the textbooks.

“A total of 4,052 students and their parents were relieved of the financial burden of purchasing books. We have fulfilled today what we promised two years ago," Mr. Mustafa said.

He also thanked the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the OSCE Mission to Serbia and other international organizations, as well as the line ministries of the Republic of Serbia.

The Ministries of Education of Serbia and Albania worked together on providing the textbooks.
