Medvedja – At the initiative of the management of the Health Center in Medvedja, a mobile mammograph unit is available to all women from the territory of this municipality.

“The mammograph device will be in Medvedja as long as there is a need for it, or until all women aged 50 to 69 and women who have a need to be examined this way are examined, "said Dragan Andjelkovic, the Director of the Health Center in Medvedja.  

Institutes and public health institutes across the country, in cooperation with representatives of health centers, as well as local self-governments, organize promotional activities to make as many women as possible undergo preventive examinations for the early detection of breast cancer, which, if detected at an early stage, may be effectively treated.   

Since the beginning of the implementation of organized breast cancer screening and the examination of completely healthy women, breast cancer was detected and patologistically confirmed in 839 women that did not have any symptoms or signs of illness.
