Leskovac, Меdvedja – Representatives of the Ministry of the Interior (MUP) of the Republic of Serbia, led by the State Secretary of the MUP Bojan Jocic, talked with the Governor of the Jablanica Administrative District Milos Ciric, the Mayor of Leskovac Goran Cvetanovic and the Municipal Presidents of Medvedja, Lebane and Bojnik about the measures to be taken for reducing the risks and damages from floods and other natural disasters in that area.

Luka Causic, the Head of the Republican Staff for Emergency Situations, said that those meetings were aimed at drawing up an action plan for solving long-standing problems, since floods had been happening at problematic points for decades.

“This visit is important because its goal is to assess the situation and needs of this area, but also to improve our work in the field and ensure more efficient protection of the population. Unfortunately, the southern part of Serbia was not bypassed by the floods this year either, but we managed to solve most of the problems by organized actions and the engagement of people and mechanization. In the upcoming period, we are expecting a cold wave and the rains that are characteristic for this time of the year, which is why the significance of this meeting is even greater. By cooperating and good coordination with the competent institutions, we can contribute to better protection of the residents, households and crops in the territory of the entire Jablanica district," said Goran Cvetanovic, the Mayor of Leskovac and the Commander of the Emergency Situations Staff.
