Presevo, Bujanovac, Мedvedja – The signing up for free textbooks for the coming school year lasts until April 15 at primary schools, whereas the schools will be able enter their data into the “Dositej” information system until April 25.   

According to the plan of the Ministry of Education, all elementary school students from economically disadvantaged families (recipients of social financial assistance) shall receive free textbooks. The same applies to students with disabilities that acquire primary school education in accordance with an individual educational plan (IEP) and the third or every subsequently born child that is in the education system.

As evidence of the fulfillment of conditions for obtaining free textbooks, parents should submit the following documents: for students from economically disadvantaged families – the decision confirming the right to obtain social financial assistance; for the third and each subsequently born child – a certificate of an educational institution on the status of primary school student or university one, while when it comes to children studying in accordance with the IEP-documentation is not required, since the school has the data on them.

According to the Ministry of Education, if a student is entitled to free textbooks on several grounds, he/she shall obtain them on the basis of a single criterion.  

Students from the first to the fourth grade will receive free textbooks for mathematics, Serbian/mother tongue, the world around us, nature and society and the foreign language, while students from the fifth to the eighth grade will get free textbooks for mathematics, Serbian/mother tongue, the first foreign language, geography, history, chemistry, physics and biology.
