Bujanovac – “I know from experience that it is important to maintain and speak your mother tongue because of your culture and tradition, but it is also important to know the official language of the country in which you live for the purpose of easier integration and finding work, " said Lamberto Zannier, the OSCE Office’s High Commissioner on National Minorities, at the promotion of the Albanian-Serbian dictionary.

The dictionary was presented at the “Naim Fraseri” primary school in Bujanovac, while its preparation was supported by the Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and the Office of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, in cooperation with a team of experts from Novi Sad, Belgrade, Bujanovac, Tirana and Pristina.

“By learning languages, it is easier to communicate and become part of the world, which is increasingly integrating into one big whole. The dictionary will help you to remain an important part of the community, but also to integrate into the wider society, which will, in the future, provide you with greater opportunities and better chances for making progress in all fields," Mr. Zannier said.

The "Little Dictionary" will be distributed in all 16 primary schools in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, where classes are held in the Albanian language.

Saip Kamberi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, expressed confidence that the learning of the Serbian language would be much easier and faster thanks to the top-quality dictionary.

The Albanian-Serbian dictionary will be available to students, as well as to the others who would like to learn Serbian or Albanian, in the electronic form and in the form of a mobile phone application.

Yesterday's event at the "Naim Fraseri" primary school was, apart from students and teachers of the school, attended by Saip Kamberi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, and his associates, representatives of the Coordination Body and Giacomo Bosisio, the Head of the OSCE Office in Bujanovac, and his associates.
